I recommend 3-6 weeks, but. It depends on your dog's breed, coat length, fur texture, activity level and your lifestyle.
For example, short-haired dogs with no undercoat and average activity level are recommended to be bathed every 8-10 weeks. Long-haired dogs with non-shedding coats and high activity level are recommended to be brushed and bathed when they become visibly dirty and to be groomed for a haircut about every 3 weeks.
As soon as they are vaccinated! Getting exposures to grooming experience as early and as often as possible is important to reduce grooming stresses in their future grooming experiences.
Yes! However, cat haircuts are given to help cats that prone to getting large mats in their fur or that do not groom themselves well and object to regular brushing.
Matted dogs take more time and effort to groom than non-matted dog. Grooming needs to be more slow and careful to avoid injuring the dog. Matting can be painful for dogs which makes grooming uncomfortable and sometimes lead to aggression. Some areas such as face or tails can be saved but requires more time and supplies. Removing mats dulls clipper blades and shears and requires them to be replaced more frequently.
